Flumotion puts the viewer in control

This year football fans will be able to enjoy the Champions' League in a completely new way, thanks to ground breaking technology developed by Flumotion. The player has been branded and created for Aragón Televisión. This comes at a time when broadcasters are experiencing a change in viewing behaviour, specifically with sports fans who are turning to the internet for a more interactive experience.

Staying true to the spirit of the game, Flumotion has developed some awe inspiring features ensuring the user not only feels being part of the viewing experience, but in control. Although the games are transmitted in real time, the player offers the choice to pause and resume the match during any point in the stream. When resuming the user can choose between two options: either pick up the stream from where he left off or go straight back to the live transmission. Until now this kind of feature has only been available to TV viewers with high end PVRs. Flumotion is now bringing it to the masses thanks to the Internet. All of these innovative features are supported by Flumotion's advanced streaming platform.

Why do users prefer HTTP Streaming?

Most users don't know what HTTP Streaming means. But they do know, that they prefer it, when watching live transmissions. It enables them to travel in time and to consume content in a personalised way. This technology allows the user to pause a live transmission and continue it later from the same point. Any interruption such as a phone call, a Skype chat or going to the bathroom...- no longer results in missing a single moment of the event.

But live transmission of sports games, such as the Champions' League case above, are no longer the only events where this technology comes in handy. Live streaming can also be used as a marketing tool to build up excitement before events, which as a result attracts more viewers for the likes of fashion shows, political speeches, concerts, galas, conferences, etc. HTTP Streaming adds functionalities that improve the viewer's experience while increasing viewership loyalty and engagement. Streaming anytime, anywhere (with the option to go to the bathroom).
